Have you always wanted to share your knowledge, wisdom, and experiences but found that you don’t seem to have a knack for writing?
Do you know that you have stories to tell but can’t quite translate them into a cohesive book?
You’re not alone.
I believe very strongly that everyone has a story inside of them; that is why I have made it my mission to help translate your thoughts and stories into a book that you can be proud to share with family, friends, and even strangers (if you decide to publish for a wider audience).
Potential Clients
I am open to working with individuals of any gender (including LGBTQIA+ folks) and any ability/neurotype (including disabled and neurodivergent folks) as long as the relationship can be built on mutual trust. We both have to be comfortable with each other and able to trust that we are safe and secure in the other person’s presence or, simply put, the process will not work.
If, for any reason, either of us feel like we are not a good fit for each other, there is no shame in saying so. You don’t even need to provide me with a reason, just as I reserve the right to not provide one to you.
Projects I Love
While I am open to writing on most nonfiction topics, there are some that I particularly enjoy. My absolute favorite projects to work on are memoir and own-voices projects; I’m especially passionate about telling people’s stories and preserving their legacies.
My Process
Before we begin working together, I will contact you to schedule an initial meeting (either via Zoom or in the Moorestown Library if you’re local). This meeting will likely last between 30-60 minutes and will be our way of getting to know each other, discussing your goals, and figuring out if we’re a good fit.
After that meeting, if we both decide to move forward with working together, I’ll begin drafting an outline of your book. The outline will break your story down chapter by chapter and will show you what I plan to highlight from your experiences. Writing will not begin until you have approved the outline; while it may change over the course of my writing, I will always inform you of these changes and receive your approval before executing them.
I will then set up a time for us to begin the interview process in order for me to gather all of the information that I need to begin writing your book. There will be a series of interviews as I move through the outline; these can take place over Zoom, over the phone, in the Moorestown Library (if you’re local), or some combination of the three.
Be aware: I will be recording our conversations if the interviews are completed over Zoom or in person; if they take place over the phone, expect them to be longer, as I will be taking detailed notes. These recordings and notes will not be shared with anyone and will only be used to allow me to tell your stories in the most authentic way possible.
As each chapter of your book is completed, I will submit the drafts for your approval. I’ll revise based on any feedback you may have; after you’re happy with the result, I’ll move on to the next chapter, for which the process will repeat until your book is finsihed.
TL;DR
I take your stories and transform them into books that you can be proud to share.
I am open to working with everyone as long as there’s a mutual respect.
I especially enjoy working on memoirs and own-voices projects.
However, I am open to a variety of nonfiction topics as well.
I will conduct and record interviews to ensure that I capture your stories correctly.
