If you or someone you love has a story to tell but can’t seem to find the words, this section is really important for you to read.
I have a special passion for making sure that no one is ever forgotten. That’s many people’s biggest fear – that they’ll die and just fade out of memory once the last person who ever knew them is gone.
I never want that to happen to anyone.
Everyone deserves to leave their mark on this world, even if it’s just a story that is passed down through their family.
That’s where I come in.
I offer a sliding scale service in which I will interview and write for anyone who has a story to share. Generous funders supplement the cost of this service for those who are given lower prices on my Ko-fi page and anyone who reaches out to me intending to help to fund a legacy project.
Potential Clients
I will work with anyone who is of sound mind to help them craft their or a loved one’s story. However, I do work with children who want to share their parents’ stories as well; this is the best option in cases of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, as well as for anyone in hospice care.
I am open to working with individuals of any gender (including LGBTQIA+ folks) and any ability/neurotype (including disabled and neurodivergent folks) as long as the relationship can be built on mutual trust. We both have to be comfortable with each other and able to trust that we are safe and secure in the other person’s presence or, simply put, the process will not work.
If, for any reason, either of us feels like we are not a good fit for each other, there is no shame in saying so. You don’t even need to provide me with a reason, just as I reserve the right to not provide one for you.
My Process
Before we work together, I will contact you or your loved one to schedule an initial meeting (either via Zoom, on the phone, or in the Moorestown Library if you’re local). This meeting will probably last between 30-60 minutes and will be our way of getting to know each other, discussing your goals for your memoir, and figuring out if we’re a good fit.
After that meeting, if we all decide to move forward with working together, I’ll begin the interview process. It may be time-consuming in order for me to gather all the information that I need to write the story; however, I don’t mind taking breaks/stopping if the mental or emotional load is too much. There will be a series of interviews as I move through the writing process; these can take place over Zoom, over the phone, in the Moorestown Library (if you’re local), or some combination of the three.
Be aware: I will record our conversations if the interviews are completed over Zoom or in person; if they take place over the phone, expect them to be longer, as I will take detailed notes. These recordings and notes will not be shared with anyone and will only be used to allow me to tell your stories in the most authentic way possible. After your memoir is completed, all the recordings of our conversations will be deleted to maintain your privacy (which is of utmost importance to me).
At certain times throughout the process, I will check in with you or your loved one to make sure everything is progressing well and that I’m capturing the story in the way it deserves to be told. When the writing is complete, I will share it with you, your loved one, and/or your family. You will own the writing and have total control of what happens to it. You can keep it for your family only or publish it; no matter what you do, I will retain no rights to the work.
TL;DR
I take your stories and transform them into writing that will last for generations to come.
I am open to working with everyone as long as they are sound of mind and there is mutual respect.
I will conduct and record interviews to ensure that I capture the stories correctly.
After everything has been written, it is given to you and I retain no rights to it.
